The Bridge or the Destination?

Nanice Ellis

If any religion or spiritual practice is to succeed in its ultimate purpose,
it will have made itself obsolete.
The best religions, philosophies or any isms or ologies,
are just pointers to the door of awakening,
but in order to enter, you must drop everything,
including that which got you there.
Do not mistake the bridge for the destination.

Some questions to consider:

  • Does your practice or study support awakening and remembering who you really are?
  • Are you guided to think for yourself?
  • Are you punished for thinking outside the box?
  • Do you adhere to rules in fear of being judged or are you accepted and loved unconditionally?
  • Are you dependent upon the teacher for knowledge, forgiveness or healing or are you encouraged to have a direct relationship with the Creator?

The highest purpose of religion or spiritual practice is to point you toward awakening to your true self.
A practice or religion supports awakening when it encourages you to think for yourself and have direct communion with the Creator.

Do not mistake the bridge for the destination.

In grace & gratitude,
Nanice Ellis
